Mahatao, Batanes — January 15, 2026 — The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Batanes convened its 1st Management Committee (MANCOM) Meeting for Calendar Year 2026 on January 15, 2026, at the Mahatao Central School Auditorium, marking the official start of management-level planning and coordination for the year.

The meeting was attended by the regular MANCOM members, composed of key division officials and unit heads, who gathered to discuss priority programs, operational directions, and strategic initiatives aligned with the Department of Education’s goals for 2026.

The activity formally opened with an Opening Program graced by Hon. Jeronimo T. Carba, Municipal Mayor of Mahatao, who welcomed the participants and underscored the importance of strong collaboration, and shared responsibility in advancing quality education in the province. Also present were dignitaries from the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Office of the Municipality of Mahatao, signifying the local government’s continued support for education-related initiatives and inter-agency cooperation.

Prior to the actual MANCOM deliberations, participants have undergone a Fire Safety and Prevention Orientation conducted by SFO3 Richard O. Quilang, Chief Administrative Branch and IIU of the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal – Batanes. The session provided timely reminders on fire prevention measures, emergency preparedness, and safety protocols in schools and offices, emphasizing the critical role of disaster risk reduction and management in ensuring safe learning and working environments.

Following the orientation, the MANCOM meeting proper commenced, focusing on internal policies, program implementation updates, and plans for strengthening governance, accountability, and service delivery across the division.
